About Daren Nigsarian by Taylor Dark, a lifetime friendDaren and his wife Carol have been homeowners in La Habra since 1992. They realized early on that it's the people that make La Habra a wonderful place to live.Born in Pasadena in 1961, Daren’s interest in public service began early. At Pasadena ’s John Muir High School , Daren served as an associate justice and as publications commissioner. During his senior year, he began hosting a weekly public-affairs show (“Our Time is Now”) on radio station K-ROQ. After attending Pasadena City College , Daren followed in his father’s footsteps and graduated from Rio Hondo Police Academy in 1985. He married his wife, Carol, in 1986, and with his stepsons Shawn and Jeremy, moved to La Habra in 1992. Daren has now served as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy for 24 years and is currently assigned to Court Services in Norwalk. Daren has travelled extensively throughout the world and has obtained a student’s pilot license, as well as scuba-diver certification and has skippered boats to Catalina. In addition to writing the column La Habra Now in the Orange County Register’s Star-Progress, Daren has written for the Altadena-Pasadena Chronicle, and has authored a book on the California court system.
